The size, and where it comes from

Instagram Post — Square

The default feed post. Shows the whole image without cropping in a profile grid.

1080 × 1080 · 1:1

Checked 6 October 2026

Instagram Post — Portrait

Takes the most vertical space in the feed, so it is the best choice for a caption-led design.

1080 × 1350 · 4:5

Checked 6 October 2026

Instagram Post — Landscape

Shorter in the feed, so it suits a wide photograph or a single line of type.

1080 × 566 · 1.91:1

Checked 6 October 2026

A post is shown whole in the feed, so nothing is cropped and the full canvas is yours. The portrait shape takes more vertical space than a square and is the better choice when the message is carried by a caption.

How to use it

  1. 1 Start from a template or a blank canvas 92 templates suit this format. The editor opens with one already applied if you pick it from the library.
  2. 2 Edit the wording Click any text on the canvas and type over it. The type shrinks to stay inside its box, and the editor tells you if a headline is too long rather than clipping it.
  3. 3 Add your image Drag a photograph onto the canvas or use the background panel. It is fitted without stretching, and it is not uploaded.
  4. 4 Download PNG or JPEG at 1080 × 1080 · 1:1, at exactly those dimensions, with no watermark.

What you can change

  • Every piece of text, including the kicker and the call to action
  • Typeface, weight, size and colour
  • Background — solid, gradient, or your own image
  • Your own image, moved and zoomed inside its frame
  • Layer order, so anything can go in front of anything
  • A different size at any point without losing your work

Nothing is locked

There is no PRO tier in this tool. Every template that exists is available, at full resolution, with no watermark and no export limit. Where a template suits several formats — a square post and a portrait post, or a portrait post and a story — all of them are offered rather than one being held back for a paid plan.

Your images are read, composed and exported inside your browser. They are never uploaded to our server, and your designs are saved on your own device.

This is the page for feed posts specifically. A post is shown whole in the feed, so nothing is cropped and the whole canvas belongs to the design — which is why the choice that matters most here is the shape. Square is the safe default, portrait takes more vertical space and suits a caption-led message, and landscape keeps a single line of type or a wide photograph from floating in empty space.

Every template below can be opened at any of the three post sizes. Switching size does not redraw the layout: the composition is geometric, so the same design is re-fitted at the new proportions and the type is resized against the shorter side rather than being stretched.

How to use this tool

  1. Pick a shape: 1080 × 1080 square, 1080 × 1350 portrait, or 1080 × 566 landscape. The size you choose is the size that gets exported — it is not scaled from the screen.
  2. Choose a template from the row above, or open the editor and switch template from inside it. Every template is free and nothing is held back for a paid plan.
  3. Click any text on the canvas and type over it. If a headline does not fit, the type shrinks slightly; if it still does not fit, the editor tells you rather than cutting the words off.
  4. Add your own photograph by dragging it onto the canvas. It is fitted into the frame without stretching, and it is never uploaded anywhere.
  5. Download as PNG or JPEG. The file is rendered at exactly 1080 × 1350, 1080 × 1080 or 1080 × 566 — the size in the panel, not the size of your window.

Frequently asked questions

What size should an Instagram post be?

1080 × 1350 is the portrait size and takes the most vertical space in the feed. 1080 × 1080 is the classic square, which is what a profile grid crops to. 1080 × 566 is the landscape size for a wide photograph. All three are available for every template that suits them, and the export is rendered at exactly those pixels.

Will a square post be cropped in the grid?

A square post shows whole in the profile grid, which is why square is still the safest choice if the grid matters to you. Portrait images are centre-cropped to a square in the grid but shown in full in the feed.

Can I change a portrait post to a square one?

Yes, at any point, from the size selector in the editor. The design is re-fitted at the new proportions rather than re-created, so your text and your image are kept.

Is this Instagram post maker free?

Yes. Every template, every size and every export is free, with no watermark and no account required.

Can I add my logo?

Every template has a handle or mark line at the foot, which you can type over with your own name. Adding an uploaded logo image inside the design is part of the image layer work and is not in this release yet.
