Network & Routing Information

Routing and Autonomous System information is derived from public internet routing tables. We do not log, track or claim exact physical GPS coordinates.

Server-side detection: Your public address is determined from your direct network connection to ToolDuck. Forwarding proxy headers are only evaluated when received through verified edge proxies.

Your public IP is detected from your network connection to our server. We do not track or store your address.

Every device connected to the internet communicates through an IP address. When you load a website, your web browser sends requests stamped with your public-facing IP so the destination server knows where to return the response.

This tool inspects your incoming TCP connection server-side to detect your true public address, its IP version (IPv4 or IPv6), whether you are routing through a proxy or CDN, and your approximate autonomous network origin.

How to use this tool

  1. Open the page to see your current public IP address detected immediately.
  2. Click Copy IP Address to place your address on your clipboard for terminal commands or whitelist configurations.
  3. Click Inspect This IP to view deeper routing, reverse DNS PTR records, and Autonomous System allocation.

How public IP detection works

When your request reaches ToolDuck, our server reads the direct socket peer address from the network layer. If you connect through a trusted reverse proxy (such as Cloudflare), verified forwarding headers are evaluated to determine your origin address.

Your local home or office router assigns your laptop or phone a private IP (like 192.168.1.100), but your internet service provider maps that connection to the single public IP displayed on this page.

Network diagnostics without physical tracking

Many commercial websites claim to reveal your exact street address or physical GPS coordinates based on your IP. In reality, IP addresses are allocated to Internet Service Providers and data centres in blocks; they indicate network routing paths, not physical room locations.

ToolDuck reports verified technical routing information — such as your Autonomous System and Regional Internet Registry — without fabricating misleading physical location claims.

Frequently asked questions

Why does my IP address change periodically?

Most home broadband providers assign dynamic IP addresses via DHCP that refresh periodically or when your modem restarts. Business connections often purchase static IPs that remain constant.

Is this my private or public IP address?

This is your public IP address. Devices on your local Wi-Fi or Ethernet network use private addresses (such as 192.168.x.x or 10.x.x.x) that are not directly routable over the public internet.

Does using a VPN change the IP shown here?

Yes. When connected to a VPN, your traffic tunnels through the VPN provider's servers, so this page displays the VPN server's public egress IP rather than your residential ISP address.
