Comparison and diffing run entirely in your browser — your tokens, passwords, endpoint URLs, and API payloads are never uploaded to any server.

Comparing two cURL commands by eye is difficult, especially when debugging API issues between staging and production, comparing Postman exports, or verifying API version migrations. Minor differences in query parameters, headers, auth tokens, or JSON payload values can break requests without being obvious in a terminal.

cURL Compare parses both commands and performs an item-by-item structural comparison: HTTP method changes, URL path differences, added/removed/modified query parameters, HTTP headers, authentication tokens, deep JSON payload diffs, and cURL options.

How to use this tool

  1. Paste the first cURL command (e.g. Staging or Original) into Side A on the left, and the second command into Side B on the right.
  2. The diff analysis updates automatically in real-time. Review the summary banner showing whether the commands match or how many differences were found.
  3. Use the filter pills to focus on specific categories: Method & URL, Query Params, Headers, Auth, Body / Payload, or Flags.
  4. Click "Copy Diff Report (Markdown)" to get a clean summary for your team in Slack, Jira, or GitHub pull requests.

Frequently asked questions

How does cURL Compare differ from a standard text diff?

A plain text diff only checks raw characters and line breaks. cURL Compare understands HTTP semantics: reordered headers, differing quote styles, or line continuation backslashes do not trigger false diffs. It reports true differences in HTTP methods, endpoints, parameters, headers, and values.

How are JSON payloads compared?

If both commands send JSON bodies, the tool parses both documents and performs a path-by-path comparison. It identifies added fields, removed fields, and modified values (e.g. $.filter.warehouse: "us-east-1" → "us-west-2") regardless of key order.

Is header comparison case-sensitive?

HTTP headers are compared case-insensitively according to RFC 7230, so "Content-Type" and "content-type" are treated as the same header. A diff is only flagged if the header values differ or if a header is present in one command and missing from the other.

Are my requests or API keys sent over the internet?

No. Parsing, normalization, and diff comparison run 100% in your browser using local JavaScript. Nothing is sent to our servers, keeping your API tokens and internal URLs completely private.

Can I open one of the compared commands in the full cURL Parser?

Yes. Click "Inspect in Parser" above either Side A or Side B to open that specific command in the single inspector with full syntax highlighting and multi-language code export.
