Every value shown comes from one conversion of the colour above, so the HEX, RGB, HSL and CMYK rows always agree with each other.
Your colours are converted in this browser. Nothing is uploaded and nothing is saved.
Paste a colour in any of the formats this suite reads and see all five at once. The input recognises what it has been given rather than requiring it to be declared, so a value copied out of a stylesheet, a design tool or a print brief can all go into the same field.
Every row is calculated from one conversion of one colour, so the HEX, RGB, HSL, HSV and CMYK values always describe the same thing. The alternative — each row converted separately — is how a colour tool ends up with two rows that disagree.
How to use this tool
- Paste or type a colour value: hex, rgb(), rgba(), hsl(), hsla(), hsv() or cmyk().
- Every other format is filled in as you type.
- Use the colour field to pick visually if you prefer.
- Copy any row with the button beside it.
What can be pasted
The field reads hex in all four lengths, rgb() and rgba() with commas, spaces or a slash, percentages in place of channel numbers, hsl() and hsla() with or without the deg unit, hsv() and hsb(), and cmyk(). Anything else is reported rather than guessed at.
- #4F8EF7, #4F8EF7FF, #4f8ef7, 4F8EF7
- rgb(79, 142, 247) and rgb(79 142 247 / 0.5)
- hsl(217.5, 91.3%, 63.9%) and hsla(217.5, 91.3%, 63.9%, 0.5)
- hsv(217.5, 68%, 96.9%) and hsb(217.5, 68%, 96.9%)
- cmyk(68%, 42.5%, 0%, 3.1%)
Why HSV appears alongside HSL
HSV is what most colour wheels and pickers display, and hsb() is the same space under another name, so both are accepted. It is not a CSS colour function, but it is what a design file will hand you, and converting it by hand is the kind of chore this page exists to remove.
One colour, five representations
Every value on the page is printed from the same colour object, and CMYK is the only conversion that can lose information — which is why a round trip through it returns the original exactly here, and would not through a print profile.
Frequently asked questions
Which formats can I paste?
Hex in three, four, six or eight digits, rgb(), rgba(), hsl(), hsla(), hsv(), hsb() and cmyk(). Percentages are accepted where CSS allows them.
Can it convert CMYK back to HEX?
Yes. Paste a cmyk() value and the hex, RGB, HSL and HSV values are filled in.
Why do all the rows change colour at once?
Because they are the same colour written five ways. The page holds one colour and prints it in each notation, rather than treating the rows as separate inputs.
Is there a limit on how many conversions I can do?
No. Everything runs in the browser with no requests, so there is nothing to rate-limit.
