Text copied from a PDF or narrow page layout may contain a line break at the end of every visual line. Those breaks can make a sentence awkward to edit or paste.
Select Remove line breaks in Custom cleaning to join lines. The operation is literal and can join paragraph boundaries too, so check the preview when paragraph breaks matter.
How to use this tool
- Paste the wrapped text into Input.
- Open Custom cleaning and select Remove line breaks.
- Review the joined output, especially where paragraphs should remain separate.
Why copied text contains unwanted breaks
Some documents store a newline at every visual wrap rather than only between paragraphs. Copying that text can leave one sentence split across many lines.
Line wraps are not always paragraph breaks
Removing all breaks joins every line and may also join paragraphs. Keep the original nearby and use Show changes to confirm that headings, list items and paragraph boundaries still make sense.
Frequently asked questions
Does this preserve paragraph breaks?
The Remove line breaks option joins all newline runs, so it can join paragraphs too. Review the output and undo by editing the original input if needed.
Is this useful for text copied from PDFs?
Yes, especially for hard-wrapped sentences. For more automatic joining that keeps some paragraph spacing, try the Clean PDF Copy preset.
