Optical Character Recognition (OCR) enables you to turn scanned paper documents, textbook pages, receipts, whiteboard notes, and screenshots into editable digital text without retyping.
Our OCR engine processes images using advanced character pattern recognition across multiple languages, returning extracted paragraphs along with word and character statistics.
How to use this tool
- Upload an image containing text (JPG, PNG, WebP). Ensure text is right-side up and reasonably focused.
- Select the document language from the dropdown menu to optimize recognition accuracy.
- Click "Extract Text". Once complete, review the text, click "Copy Text" to copy to your clipboard, or "Download TXT" to save a file.
Getting Accurate OCR Text Results
Good lighting and high contrast between text and background are the biggest factors in OCR accuracy. For scanned documents, 300 DPI resolution yields the cleanest results.
Machine-generated text is highly accurate for printed fonts; handwritten notes and ornate cursive fonts may require manual proofreading.
Frequently asked questions
What languages are supported?
The OCR engine supports English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Hindi, Russian, Chinese, Japanese, Arabic, Dutch, Polish, and Turkish.
Are my document contents logged or kept?
No. We enforce strict privacy: document contents, extracted words, and uploaded images are never logged or stored. Intermediate temporary files are deleted immediately after recognition completes.
Can it extract text from mobile screenshots?
Yes. Screenshots from phones, tablets, and computer monitors extract exceptionally well because pixels are sharp and digital.
